Viking Sky is a mid-sized ocean vessel in Viking's Star class, carrying about 930 guests in all-outside, balcony staterooms with the understated Scandinavian design and adults-only atmosphere that define the line. Built by Italy's Fincantieri and entering service in 2017, she offers a calm, culturally focused experience with pools, a spa, restaurants and lounges rather than casinos or waterslides. In March 2019 she briefly made global headlines when she lost engine power in a storm off Norway's Hustadvika coast; hundreds of passengers were airlifted off by helicopter before the crew restarted the engines and brought her safely to port with no loss of life.
